Meet Annabel
A warm welcome from me! I imagine you've found this page because you either already have a love for yoga or are just curious about why so many people are drawn to it.
Let me briefly share what has led me to practice yoga every day and why I am passionate to offer Yoga from my studio in the Blackdown Hills. Back in 2000, I was ‘dragged’ to a class; I never really expected yoga to resonate with my busy, on-the-go personality, but the experience kept bringing me back to mat; it has become the perfect way to slow down and re-connect with my body while maintaining the strength and fitness I desire (and need!) to enjoy long walks with my dogs, riding my horses, and generally supporting my active outdoor lifestyle. On a side note I was diagnosed with a ‘crumbling’ lumbar spine and hyper mobility in the late 1990’s, told to stop riding, cycling, yoga and possibly try swimming! So, I ignored that and limped along. I have since found that a commitment to Yoga has been a complete lifesaver, I am happy to say I am pain free.
My style of yoga teaching is Vinyasa, and very functional in approach. Every move in every class is for a specific reason - to build strength, suppleness and balance. We are generally living longer but we want that to be a life where we can carry on doing what we love.
All I encourage you to do is choose the style/tempo of class that resonates with you and join me in my cosy studio. You can enjoy stunning views over the hills, breathe in the fresh air, fill your cup with positive energy and leave with a renewed sense of vitality and a spring in your step.
Professionally, I trained with Mercedes Sieff of Yeotown in London, Devon and Madeira in 2018, I focus on fostering a positive mindset through mindful movement; very much influenced by Mecredes’ infectiously creative and dynamic flows.
2020 led me to getting ever deeper into anatomy and physiology and led me to complete further professional teacher training with Lara Heiman (LYT Yoga), a yoga teacher and neurophysiotherapist. This knowledge has greatly influenced my current yoga practice - every move every pose is for a reason; an end goal of living a life with strength, suppleness and unending energy.
I absolutely love to study and will never stop learning; currently I’m embarking on training with Patrick McKeown (Oxygen Advantage) focussing on ‘Breathwork’ to further enrich my own practice and what I offer you, my clients.
